30 Years in the Ministry …
Sunday, Nov. 22nd., members and friends of Westminster will gather to celebrate 2 momentous occasions ! We will mark the 35th Anniversary of the Rev. Dr. John Pehrson’s ordination as Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church.
At the same time we will celebrate John’s 8 years as our pastor and his decision to chose this time in his life to retire from Pastoral Ministry.
John – I know how much you like poetry so, the time has come for you to follow in Robert Frost’s footsteps and travel this new path as “two roads diverge in a yellow wood” …
May you Grow Strong, Beautiful and Grateful in the Place God Plants You !!!
Count Your Blessings …
And then pack a bunch of them in a grocery bag and bring them to church on Sunday, Nov. 22nd. All of our BAGS OF BLESSINGS will be dedicated during the Children’s Sermon that day and the Deacons will make sure the much needed food is delivered to a local food pantry ! Let’s provide them with some good food for the holidays and remove just one of their obstacles – if only for a day. Thanks in advance for your support of this wonderful project.
Siouxland Sleepout 2015
Pastor John is participating in this year’s Siouxland Sleepout tonight. This event draws attention and focus to the struggles of those in the area – and all over the country – who find themselves homeless. Please pray for those involved in tonight’s event – that their efforts may shine a light on a part of the American Landscape that we often choose to pretend we don’t see.
At any given time there are hundreds of thousands of people who find them selves sleeping on the streets, in their cars, under bridges, etc. (and for many of them the accommodations John has tonight appear luxurious) … May they feel the love of God, and the caring of their fellow men, as they face this difficult time in their lives.
